I was backing out of my driveway and realized that Savannah had put the dog in the car. She is always really worried that the dog is going to run away if it is outside or that I am going to run it over. I did not want the dog in the car, so I grabbed the dog to go take it back in the house. Well, I thought that I had put the car in park but I didn't. Our driveway is on a bit of a slant and the van got going too fast (in reverse) and I couldn't stop it. It was literally dragging me. It all happened so fast I didn't know what to do. I am just lucky that I didn't get run over. It scared the living daylights out of me. I could hear my kids screaming and just see the van headed for the neighbors truck. I pulled some muscles in my hand, but other than that everyone is ok. It just scared the kids really bad. The whole back window is broken and the door is smashed in. The alignment over the tire is messed up so my dad thinks it is totaled. He said it was at least 3 or 4 thousand worth of damage. The neighbors truck ended up being ok. It was a little beat up and old anyways and it mostly just messed up the bumper. They were very understanding and very nice about the whole thing. I have never done anything so stupid, I feel like such an idiot. What a nice way to introduce myself as a neighbor eh? They are probably all thinking "Watch out for that crazy lady in the white van . . . . she'll run you over!"
The other thing that really sucks is that we found out that we have collision coverage only on Jason's car and motorbike, but not on my van. Why?!? I do not understand why we do not have it. So, I need to find out if our homeowner's insurance will cover it since it happened at home.
I am really grateful that no kids were out playing in the road and I am so glad that that old truck was there cuz can you imagine if it would have gone through their garage and hit their house?!?
